Crazy Time: The Arsenal Women’s team holds the record for the most Women’s FA Cup wins. The Women’s FA Challenge Cup is the top annual knockout tournament for women’s football clubs in England. Since its inception in 1970, the competition has gone by several names, including the WFA Cup, FA Women’s Cup, and Women’s FA Cup. It is currently known as the Adobe Women’s FA Cup due to sponsorship.
Originally organized by the Women’s Football Association (WFA), the competition began in the 1970–71 season as the Mitre Challenge Trophy, intended to serve as the women’s equivalent of the men’s FA Cup. Crazy Time, The inaugural tournament featured 71 teams, including clubs from Scotland and Wales.
Crazy Time: During the first 23 seasons under WFA management, Southampton won the cup eight times. The Football Association (FA) officially took over the governance of women’s football in England in mid-1993.
Crazy Time: Arsenal leads the competition’s history with a total of 14 titles. Manchester United secured their first-ever Women’s FA Cup in 2024, defeating Tottenham Hotspur 4–0 in the final.
Commonly referred to as the Women’s FA Cup or WFA Cup, the tournament remained under the WFA’s control until the 1992–93 season. When the FA took over in 1993–94, it was rebranded as the FA Women’s Cup, a name it retained until 2015.
